Eligibility of the PhD applicants:
- ESR eligibility criteria: Early-stage researchers (ESR) shall at the call deadline be in the first four years (full-time equivalent research experience) of their research careers and have not been awarded a doctoral degree. Full-time equivalent research experience is measured from the date when a researcher obtained the degree which would formally entitle him or her to embark on a doctorate, either in the country in which the degree was obtained or in the country in which the researcher is recruited or seconded, irrespective of whether or not a doctorate is or was ever envisaged.
- Mobility rule: Applicants from all countries are eligible. The applicants may not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc) in France or in the country of the international partner university country (for joint theses), for more than 12 months during the 3 years immediately before the call deadline. Time spent as part of a procedure for obtaining refugee status under the Geneva Convention, compulsory national service and/or short stays such as holidays are not taken into account.
- Applicants must be in possession of a master degree or equivalent degree which would formally entitle them to embark on a doctorate by the start of the PhD contract (October 2020 for the first batch and October 2021 for the second batch of PhD students).
